Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Bullying in Children and Young People

Description

This qualification will develop your understanding of bullying, including how to recognise that bullying is taking place and how to take action to stop it. This qualification covers the definitions of bullying and cyber bullying, legislation that relates to bullying, the effects of bullying on children and young people and how to act when bullying is identified.

Please note: The course focuses entirely on children and young people and is not relevant to anyone interested in an awareness of bullying in adults.

Unit 1: Principles of bullying

  • What is meant by bullying
  • Key features of what behaviour is considered bullying
  • What is meant by cyber bullying
  • Bullying in context
  • The short and long-term effects of bullying

Unit 2: Recognising bullying in children and young people

  • Individuals who may be at risk of bullying
  • The signs that a child or young person may be being bullied
  • Why children or young people bully

Unit 3: Action to be taken when a child or young person is being bullied

  • How to support a child or young person who is being bullied
  • How to approach the potential bully.

Unit 4: Understand government guidelines for bullying

  • The Equality Act 2010
  • Government and Ofsted guidance on tackling bullying
  • Policies and procedures for bullying.

Course Delivery
Online or Paper based, 16 weeks.

Teaching and Assessment
Assessments are due at the end of each unit. Your tutor will assess your work and build up your portfolio of evidence of learning. A certificate will be awarded on satisfactory submission of evidence of learning for the units studied.

Entry Requirements
You will need to be over the age of 19 and been resident in the EU for at least 3 years. Learners must be educated up to Level 2 standard.
