Introduction
Our Level 3 qualifications for IT Users develop the skills and knowledge that learners need for a career in IT. The courses are designed to meet the needs of today’s businesses. These are hands-on, applied qualifications to give learners a chance to gain a nationally recognised vocational qualification and progress to employment or further education in the IT sector.

Course content
Learners work through sequential and progressive programmes to achieve units, award (3 units) or certificate (5 units).

The units offered are:
• Database software
• Desktop publishing software
• Presentation software
• Spreadsheet software
• Word processing software
• Improving productivity through IT

Qualifications gained
City & Guilds 7574 ITQ Level 3 (for IT Users)
Equivalent to A level studies

Progression opportunities
Learners can progress to higher level study in FE or HE for IT user courses.

Teaching and Assessment
A variety of methods and materials are used, with an emphasis on practical experience in workshop activities – all supported by manuals and materials specially prepared by the Centre. Individualised support and tutoring is a specific and key feature of our teaching delivery. Every learner is supported to ensure they achieve the maximum from studies and experiences with us.

This programme is a continually assessed as it progresses and each unit is individually assessed. End of unit assessments are taken when the learner has reached the required standard. The assessments are marked by the tutor, internally assessed by staff and externally moderated by City & Guilds.

Entry Requirements
Entry requirements require evidence of competence at level 2 which will be assessed through diagnostic testing prior to start of course. This is to ensure we place the right applicant at the correct level for them to progress and achieve.
