Description

Endorsed by CACHE, this childcare course will refresh and update your skills in line with current legislation and requirements. This course features bespoke video content filmed in a working nursery to ensure you are able to directly relate the learning to your place of work. This course is ideal for anyone working in an early years setting, or aspiring to do so.

Unit 1: Child development in early years
Through this unit you will develop your understanding of the holistic stages of the development of children and young people from birth to 19 years. You will look at how to monitor children and young people’s development using different methods and will increase your knowledge of the factors affecting development. You will learn about techniques for observing children and how to record these observations. This unit will also introduce you to the importance of play opportunities for children and young people.

Unit 2: Engaging with the requirements of statutory frameworks in relation to safeguarding and welfare
This unit will focus your attention on the main legislation utilised within early years settings. You will also look in detail at safeguarding and welfare and will discover how to identify signs and symptoms of common childhood illnesses and what actions should be taken when children and young people become ill or get injured. This unit also highlights the potential signs and indicators of abuse and what actions to take in response to evidence or concerns that a child or young person is at risk of abuse.

Unit 3: Creating a positive environment
Within this unit you will look at how you might work with parents and carers, including how to appropriately meet and greet children and parents/carers and the importance of sharing concerns.
