World of Work

Conference Facilities

As part of the development of the mission to World of Work, the Centre has been instrumental in responding to Chaplaincy requests from employers and organisations.

The late Fr Joseph Carter was Chaplain at Kelloggs major food plant, Greater Manchester Police Headquarters and also provided chaplaincy to Bachelors Best Foods, Trafford Park until 2009.  Fr Joe retired from ministry after 50 years of service in the priesthood and sadly passed away in November 2012.

In 2011 the Bishop of Salford, Rt Rev Terence Brain appointed Fr Martin Saunders as the Chaplain to the Centre.  Fr Martin has been associated with the Centre's work for a number of years.  As Parish Priest in Accrington, Fr Martin was instrumental in helping to establish The Plater Project to meet the needs of the local community.  This led to the establishment of the Accrington Community and Training Centre which is still one of the key outreach locations for training and support.  This is based in Hyndburn Community Resource Centre on Cannon Street in Accrington town centre.

The Centre is actively seeking in partnership with GMIM a Chaplain to serve in Trafford Park working with the Centre.

If you would like to assist with the Chaplaincy services in Trafford Park or in the World of Work please contact us.  Over recent years a number of volunteer lay chaplains have been developed to support chaplaincy in town centre locations such as Bolton and the Middlebrook Retail Park in Horwich.

The pictures show the recent Response to Recession roadshow held in Bolton Town Centre with the Bolton Town Centre Chaplaincy Team.  The second photo is the induction of Wendy White as Chaplain to the Middlebrook Retail Park in Horwich earlier this year.  The ordination and induction took place at the Reebok stadium.
