Event Location - Courses to be completed in your own time

Event Description

IT Distance Learning

We know it can be difficult to take time out from work or family commitments to update your current skills or gain new one.  That's why we've introduced a distance learning option for some of our IT courses and units.  This means you can study at your own pace and at a time and place to suit you.

Benefits of distance learning:

Who is this course for?

The course is for those who have some IT abilities and want to further develop and enhance their skills and gain a practical qualification.  This is based on Microsoft software products which means it is applicable to most industry sectors and employment situations.  IT is one of the fundamental or 'basic skills' required in industry, community and society, so everyone should benefit from this training.

Units of Study:

Dependent on individual needs and requirements, courses at level 1 and 2 contain the specific unit:

All units are City & Guilds Accredited ITQ units

Teaching, Learning and Assessment:

Progressive tasks, exercises and assessments are on-going throughout each unit, with work submitted at regular intervals.  At the end of each unit, an assessment takes place and the achievement is recorded.  Your tutor will assess your work and compile a portfolio of learning evidence.  A certificate is awarded on satisfactory submission of evidence of learning for the units studied.

Course length and time commitment:

By committing 3 hours per week, a unit may be completed in under 3 months

Technical requirements:

Hardware: Internet connected computer
Software:  Microsoft 2010 or 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Entry requirements:

You should have basic IT skills.  An initial assessment of your current abilities will enable us to put together the correct programme.  You must be able to commit yourself to the necessary study time to achieve this qualification.

Course costs:

A range of fees apply dependent on course level, number of units etc.

Please contact us for specific costs.
