Parasol at the ACT Centre

The Parasol project was established four years ago in response to the social and cultural needs of the large numbers of mainly Polish migrant workers who turned to the Catholic Church for help.

Parasol is a self help volunteer support group that works within the Catholic Church.  It offers help to the Polish and other Eastern and Central European migrants who are seeking to work and settle in Hyndburn and the surrounding areas of East Lancashire.

It provides a place where people can access information and other assistance, with the most important elements of this missionary work being to help new arrivals to integrate and facilitate positive social cohesion.

The group is based at St Joseph's Parish, Accrington and has been developed by Fr Martin Saunders. The ACT Centre has received support from the Catholic Welfare Society and St. Antony's Centre and will now be extending the support offered to Polish and migrant workers.
