Learners achieve success online!

Learners achieve success online!

Learners achieve success online!

Wed 23rd Nov 2011

Today, we presented two of our Go-On learners with their certificates as they completed the Online Basics courses and continued to work their way through the learn more section of the site.

Enriqueta Jones and Joe McDermott (pictured) first attended the Centre 4 weeks ago as they both wished to learn more about what the internet could do for them. Enriqueta had briefly used a computer before whereas Joe had never even switched one on. Both had very clear ideas about what they wanted to learn and therefore signed up for a Go-On account in order to start with the basics.

After competing against each other (and the rest of the group!) at the keyboard shooting gallery typing game and blasting ducks on 'Splash and Grab', Enriqueta and Joe worked their way through the units and both practiced with their own Yahoo email accounts. A quiz to test their knowledge of using web addresses and search engines proved to be difficult at times but resulted in the learners knowing how to price check baked beans, check their bin collection dates and discover how tall Harry from Mcfly is!

Left alone with their internet connections at home, Joe managed to book a ferry ticket to Ireland and Enriqueta booked her water areobics gym class on line! Excellent work after only 4 sessions!

Both learners now feel much more confident using the internet and as they both have family outside of England (Spain and Ireland) they will be attending our Skype session in the very near future.

We send a massive congratulations to Enriqueta and Joe who have both worked very hard. Well done!
